Fish Detour – Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2 November 2026
Fish Detour ("the game") is made by the Fish Detour team ("we"). This policy explains what data the game handles.
Your game save
Your progress, coins, stars, settings and Reef Town are saved on your device and, if iCloud is on, copied to your own iCloud storage so that reinstalling the game or a second device can restore them. We do not run servers, we do not ask for an account, a name or an e-mail address, and we cannot read your iCloud copy. The game creates a random player code (shown in Settings) that you can give us if a purchase needs to be restored. Your answer to the age question is saved together with your game save, including the iCloud copy.
Purchases
In-app purchases are made through Apple. Our purchase service, RevenueCat, receives the purchase records together with the random player code so that purchases can be restored: https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy
Advertising (Google AdMob)
The game shows ads through Google AdMob: an optional video you can watch for a reward (an extra heart, an undo or a booster) and, from level 20, an occasional ad between levels. To show and measure ads, Google and its partners may collect:
- the device's advertising identifier (IDFA on iOS, only if you allow tracking; Advertising ID on Android),
- approximate location derived from your IP address,
- information about the ads you see and how you interact with them,
- crash and performance data of the ad software.
This data is collected and processed by Google, not by us. See how Google uses it: https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites
Your choices
What the game asks depends on your age answer: tracking and personalised-ads consent are only requested from players above the age threshold.
- On iOS the game asks whether you allow tracking. If you choose "Ask App Not to Track", ads are not personalised with your advertising identifier. You can change this any time in Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking.
- In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland the game asks for your consent before personalised ads, and you can change your choice any time with "Privacy choices" in the game's settings.
- Android: Settings > Google > Ads lets you reset or delete your Advertising ID.
Game statistics and crash reports (Google Firebase)
To see where levels are too hard and to fix crashes, the game sends anonymous gameplay events to Google Firebase Analytics and crash reports to Firebase Crashlytics:
- which level you start, win or lose, its stars and how long it took,
- when a booster, undo, continue, the Tide Wheel or a Reef Town build is used,
- a random app identifier created by Firebase, the device model, OS version, language and country (from the IP address),
- for a crash: the error and the state of the app at that moment.
They are not linked to your name, e-mail, player code or advertising identifier and are not used for ads: firebase.google.com/support/privacy
Notifications
If you allow them, the game schedules reminders on your device (full lives, the Daily Tide). They are created locally; no data leaves your device for them.
Deleting your data
You can ask us at any time what data about you exists and have it deleted; we answer within 30 days.
- Game save: delete the game from your device. To remove the iCloud copy too, open Settings > [your name] > iCloud > Manage Storage, choose Fish Detour and delete its data.
- Purchase records at RevenueCat: write to contact@fishdetour.com with your player code (Settings in the game). We delete the records linked to it and confirm by e-mail. Purchases you made stay with your Apple account and can still be restored from Apple.
- Advertising data is held by Google: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. You can also stop tracking (iOS) or delete your Advertising ID (Android) as described above.
- Game statistics and crash reports at Google Firebase are not linked to you; deleting the game resets their random identifier. Google deletes them after its retention period.
Children and age
On first launch the game asks for your birth year. We do not store the year itself; we only keep whether you are under the age threshold (13, or 16 in the EU/EEA and Switzerland). This answer is saved with your game save on your device and in your iCloud.
If you are under the threshold:
- the game never asks to track you and does not use your advertising identifier (IDFA),
- ads are child-directed, not personalised and limited to general-audience (G) content,
- gameplay analytics and crash reporting are turned off.
Parents or guardians can contact contact@fishdetour.com to ask what data exists about their child or to have it deleted. We answer within 30 days.
If you live in the UK, the EEA or Switzerland
The data controller is Soner Gonencler, reachable at contact@fishdetour.com.
Legal bases: we rely on your consent for personalised ads and for game statistics and crash reports, and on the performance of our contract with you for delivering purchases and your game save. You choose in the consent form on first launch and can change your choice at any time under Privacy choices in Settings.
Age: where the law requires it, the age limit in the game follows your country (up to 16). Below that limit the game shows non-personalised ads and sends no game statistics or crash reports.
Your rights: you can ask for access to your data, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, and object to processing. You can withdraw consent at any time; this does not affect earlier processing. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Keeping and moving data: purchase records are kept for as long as they are needed to restore purchases and to meet legal duties. Google keeps its data for its own retention periods. Google and RevenueCat may process data outside your country, including in the United States, under the safeguards in their own terms.
If you live in the United States
What the game handles: device and advertising identifiers, approximate location from your connection, gameplay and ad interactions, crash and performance data, and purchase records with the random player code. We use them to run the game, deliver purchases, show and measure ads, fix problems and improve levels. We do not sell your data for money. Ads through Google may count as "sharing" for targeted advertising under some state laws.
Your rights: depending on your state, you can ask to know, access, correct or delete your data, and opt out of the sale or sharing of data and of targeted advertising. Use Privacy choices in Settings when it appears, or the tracking setting on your device, or write to contact@fishdetour.com with your player code. We will not treat you differently for using these rights. You can appeal a decision by writing to the same address.
Other countries
Wherever you live, including Brazil, Canada and Australia, you can ask what data about you exists, and ask to correct or delete it, by writing to contact@fishdetour.com with your player code. We answer within 30 days. If you are not satisfied, you can contact your local data protection authority.
Changes
We will update this page when the game's data practices change.
